"I want to leave": 24-year-old Arsenal star is unhappy with manager Mikel Arteta
After three straight defeats and only one goal scored in those games, a disgruntled player is the last thing Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta needs.
Arsenal are out of the FA Cup and after recent losses to Aston Villa, West Ham and Fulham, their title hopes are seriously damaged.
The Gunners are not scoring goals and Arteta is trying to take every opportunity to make Arsenal’s attack work.
After Arsenal’s FA Cup exit against Liverpool, Reiss Nelson admitted that he is unhappy with his playing time at the club.
Arteta started the game against Liverpool and his play in the first half was impressive, but he didn’t make much of an impact as the game went on.
Nelson told The Standard: “Nelson was in the game to stay:
“I’ve said this before, but Arsenal have been my club since I was eight years old. Obviously I want to play a lot more than I do now.
“It’s good to play from the bench, but I wish I started playing. I feel like I’m proving myself every day in training, so I want to continue with that momentum and play even more.
“I’ve signed my contract, I’m here now and I just have to prove to the manager that I deserve more minutes.
“Like I said, when I get the chance to play I can prove myself and show everyone what I can do.”
Arteta is currently looking to strengthen his squad in attack, which could mean that Nelson will struggle to get chances in the near future.
If his playing time remains unchanged, the 24-year-old will leave the club in the summer.
