‘DECISION TO BE MADE’…: Fabrizio Romano now shares update on Arsenal chance of signing Karim Benzema
Fabrizio Romano now shares update on Arsenal chance of signing Karim Benzema
Arsenal were linked with Al Ittihad striker Karim Benzema during the January window, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now exclusively reported on the current situation for GIVEMESPORT.
Benzema decided to move to Saudi Arabia during the summer transfer window to take advantage of the wealth offered in the Middle East. As is known, the French striker has signed a three-year contract with Al-Ittihad and will earn almost 200 million pounds per season, which is equivalent to about 6 pounds per second.
As Benzema has moved to a lower standard league, the former Real Madrid man has naturally scored regularly since his move in the summer transfer window. However, there are reports that Benzema is having some problems off the pitch and that he could now make a surprise return to Europe, with several Premier League clubs considering the veteran striker.
Benzema linked with move to the Premier League
It may seem that all is well for Benzema, who makes a lot of money in Saudi Arabia and scores goals with ease. But according to Spanish newspaper MARCA, Benzema did not show up for the presentation before training began and has now been excluded from the tour altogether. Marcelo Gallardo’s charges return to action in February and it is currently not clear whether Benzema will be part of the squad in the future.
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal and Chelsea are among those considering loaning Benzema for the rest of the season. The Premier League is unlikely to be able to afford the 36-year-old’s salary, but if they can agree a deal where they only contribute a small percentage, it could be a smart move for both clubs.
