Deal getting closer to sign £80m striker as club agrees to lower asking price to let him join Arsenal in January
According to Football Transfers, Arsenal have been given a big boost to sign Brentford star Ivan Toney, as the Bees are willing to lower the price to let their star player leave in January.
The Gunners appear to be planning to sign another successful striker in the winter window to strengthen their front line and help Mikel Arteta continue his title march this season.
Several players have been mentioned as potential targets for the north London club, including Victor Osimhen, Santiago Giménez and Dusan Vlahovic, but Toney is expected to be their main choice.
However, it has been reported that Brentford do not want to let their star player go cheaply and want at least £80 million for him. Therefore, Arsenal should not be able to buy the striker in January, as the Gunners’ winter budget is reportedly limited due to FFP rules, having spent more than £200 million last summer.
However, according to Football Transfers, Brentford have decided to lower the asking price and are willing to pay around £55 million for Toney if Arsenal pay the amount in one lump sum.
