Arsenal goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar has returned to Arsenal for rehabilitation after falling awkwardly on her ankle in the closing stages of Netherlands’ victory over Austria on Friday night.
Van Domselaar caught her ankle as she dived for a shot in the dying minutes of the game and left the field in some discomfort. The player told de Telegraaf that, ‘I am able to walk on it so I don’t expect it is very serious,’ however she has been ruled out of Tuesday night’s return game with Austria.
A statement from KNVB read, ‘Daphne van Domselaar has left the training camp. She suffered an injury during the home match against Austria, which makes her unavailable for the upcoming match on Tuesday. Regina van Eijk (Ajax) will join the squad in Austria this afternoon.’
It’s another unwanted worry for Renee Slegers with Chloe Kelly already being sent home from England duty due to a foot injury she picked up in training. Arsenal play Leicester City on Tuesday 13 April as well as two legs of their UWCL semi-final against Lyon on 19 and 27 April.
